Job Description

The Overlake School seeks qualified applicants for the position of Summer Camp Counselor for Summer 2020. To learn more about Overlake’s Summer Program, please review the program philosophy and offerings (www.overlake.org/summer).

 

Position Overview:

Summer Camp Counselors will support Summer Faculty in facilitating pre-designed, hands-on summer camps at The Overlake School. Summer Camp Counselors are expected to communicate, motivate, and interact with youth in a positive manner during class and activity time. Camp Counselors will also design community time, supervise lunch, run extended-care, and mentor student interns who are also helping faculty members with their courses. Camp Counselors work as a cohort to support the day-to-day operation of the program. They are the glue of the summer community, and their flexibility and attitude is essential to creating a fun learning environment for the students.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume (including references) to Nate Edmunds (nedmunds@overlake.org) and Jennifer Pan (jpan@overlake.org). The resume should focus on specific experiences working with youth that have prepared the applicant to be a camp counselor in the summer program. In addition, applicants are required to list two references (including email addresses and phone numbers) as part of the resume. The cover letter should describe the applicant’s interest in the position and explain why they would be an effective counselor.

 

Process

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Strong applications will move forward and involve an interview with Nate Edmunds and/or Jennifer Pan. We should have a decision for the applicant within approximately three weeks of receiving the application.
